Can someone pinch me? I seriously cannot believe this is my living room. We've been in this house for more than 5 years, and I have never been fully satisfied with this room. I've tried multiple layouts and different furniture, but nothing ever felt right. You know what I'm talking about. The room was okay, but I knew it could be really spectacular with the right pieces. We spend a lot of time in here so it's important to me that our living room be beautiful but comfortable.

Thanks to Bassett Furniture, this room finally looks how I've always envisioned it in my head. Our living room is a large space so traditional furniture looks too small and out of place. The floor plan of the room with the windows and proximity to the kitchen makes it challenging to find a suitable layout. Bassett was the perfect choice for me because they offer so many amazing custom options.

If I had to summarize Bassett in 2 words, they would be QUALITY and CUSTOM. It's taken me years, but I'm finally learning the importance of buying quality pieces that will last. I have wasted so much money over the years buying cheaper furniture that I didn't really love just so I could "finish" a space. If you take away nothing else from this blog post, remember this:
Save your money, be patient, and invest in high quality pieces that you really love.

Let's check out all the pieces I received from Bassett starting with that stunning sectional. I chose the Sutton sectional because I like the clean, modern lines with the traditional rolled arms. We all love to snuggle on the couch so deep, plush cushions were a must. During my store visit (check that out here), I knew the Sutton was for us the moment I sat down.

Before you cringe at all the possible stains on that cream fabric, let me tell you about our dilemma. My husband insisted on a leather sectional because he knew our 2 small kids would probably stain fabric. I really wanted a white fabric couch because who doesn't like that look? But, I don't want to be that mom who is always yelling at her kids to get off the furniture because she's worried about them staining white fabric.

With Bassett, you get the best of both worlds. The design consultant showed me the Revolution fabric. This is a naturally stain resistant fiber that's really easy to clean if a spill happens. Bassett offers several colors in this line, and I chose Straw, a beautiful creamy white with a gray undertone.

What I was most excited about was customizing the sectional. My absolute favorite part of Bassett Furniture is how much can be customized so you get exactly the look you want. Initially, I wanted a huge U-shaped sectional, but the design consultant helped me realize how that would close this space off from the kitchen, and I want to keep things open to encourage everyone to hang out. We opened up the U shape with a chaise lounge, which of course ended up being my favorite part of the sectional. I pretty much live in that spot now, and the kids love to come and snuggle with me. A traditional sectional with this shape typically has a loveseat on the short side, a corner chair, another loveseat on the long side, and a chaise lounge.

That might work in other rooms, but I knew it would be too small for our space. I love that I was able to change out the loveseat on the short side for a full sofa and add an armless chair on the long side to make it a really large sectional. This bad boy can comfortably seat 8 people!

I chose the Kent chair for the corner in front of the tv. Yet another custom option allowed me to turn this chair into a swivel glider, making it more functional for the space. We can turn the chair in to face the sectional when we're all just hanging out or we can turn it to face the tv.

Just as I suspected, the kids LOVE this feature. They even take turns spinning each other around. I might not have wanted a huge leather sectional, but I love the look and feel of leather on an accent chair. I choose the Laramie leather in Stone, and I wish you could feel how buttery soft it is.

I chose the Savannah rug, which has been an unexpected favorite of mine. I'm at a stage in life where I choose rugs based on how well they will hide stains. I love the neutral tones of this rug with the perfect combo of dark and light tones that can hide whatever stains my kids and dogs can dish out.

The rug is super comfortable, and we play CandyLand on the floor daily in this spot now. Even our dog Lola has a new favorite sleeping spot.

For the end tables, I wanted something that would combine modern and traditional, and the Bella tables fit the bill. I chose the Bella Round Bedside Table because I'm a sucker for a curvy leg. I'm always drawn to turned table legs, and I love how you can see this feature from the kitchen and breakfast nook.

The Bella Chairside Table is perfect for the other end of the couch because it's narrow enough that we still have walking room to get to our guest bedroom but you also get extra storage space with the shelf. I love the gray wood top that helps pull out the gray in the sectional fabric, and the white distressed base ties in perfectly with the rug and leather chair.

Since all my new furniture is neutral, I wanted to add in a pop of color somewhere in the room so I painted our vintage blueprint file cabinet that we use as a coffee table with Magnolia's chalk paint in Aspen Leaf.

To contrast all the newness, I incorporated vintage pieces in the decor on the coffee table and the mantle. I love the classic combo of new and old that helps a space feel fresh but nostalgic at the same time.

This space finally looks the way I always wanted. Someone even told me that it looks like the sectional was created just for this room. And, in a way, it was because Bassett offers so many amazing custom options with outstanding quality.
