Welcome to Sawdust Angel Wood Boutique! Thank you so much for visiting, I'm Jackie Anderson, and I'm the face behind all that sawdust. I was born and raised in Katy, TX, just outside of Houston, and I love being a Southern girl, especially a Texan. I left Katy for 4 years to attend the University of Texas at Austin to get my degree in education. I taught 3rd grade math and science for 5 years and gifted and talented kids for my last 3 years.
My husband Rick and I have been married for 6 years, and he has made all of my dreams come true, including new dreams that I never even knew I wanted, like my little shop. He constantly pushes me to be a better version of myself, and he's always supportive. We have 2 gorgeous children: Lucy is 3yo and Little Ricky is 2yo. (That's right. My kids are named Lucy and Ricky. I Love Lucy is my all-time favorite show, and it helps that both of those are family names.) I love being a stay-at-home mom to those cuties, even though they make me want to pull out my hair on a daily basis.
I have always loved working with my hands and putting things together. When I was little, it was always a special treat to read directions and assemble a piece of furniture. (I know. I'm a total weirdo.) My dad is a talented woodworker, and he was always fixing up our house. We didn't have much money, but my mom was gifted at decorating on pennies. My dad has always been a DIY kind of guy before it was popular. My mom was super creative and thrifty long before Pinterest and Instagram came along.
When we moved into our home 5 years ago, I discovered that the furniture/decor I wanted was either too pricey (my mom has always told me I have champagne taste on a Kool-aid budget) or I couldn't find exactly what I wanted. So, I started making my own stuff when it was possible. Rick bought me a Silhouette Cameo for Christmas one year, which is what I use for all my designs and stencils. My dad gave me his table saw, and I have slowly bought more tools for my mini shop in our garage. After posting some of my pieces on Facebook, friends encouraged me to start selling my items so I opened my shop. I love woodworking, and I enjoy trying increasingly complicated builds. In a few years, when the kids are in school, I hope I can actually rent a space to have a real woodshop.
