The Madeline Dollhouse

I loved working on this shabby chic dollhouse for the daughters of dear friends of mine. I have known Kevin and Sarah since high school, and they have two beautiful daughters, Charlotte and Madeline. They're very girly so I wanted to make a sweet dollhouse for their birthdays.

I used lots of pink, white, and wood tones to keep the house sweet and bright. Let's start off in my favorite room of this house: the living room.

I made the fireplace with a foam board base, cork bricks, and popsicle stick shiplap. The chairs are from Hobby Lobby, and I just love the color. I framed a couple floral images I totally stole from Google. I made a mini lavender wreath from a small grapevine wreath I already had from my Christmas place settings (you can read about that project here).

This balustrade coffee table has my heart, whether it's big or mini. I've made the big version a few times before (you can see it here) so I was really excited to make this small version.

For coffee table decor, I added a lavender plant, gold bowl, and a couple books. Books are an easy way to make a dollhouse personal. Kevin and Sarah took an amazing trip to Italy before they had kids so I included a travel book about Italy, and Charlotte and Madeline's favorite book is Beauty and the Beast.

In the kitchen, I used pre-made cabinets with pink countertops because why not? It's a dollhouse, isn't it? I used pearly embossed scrapbook paper as the backsplash and added a range hood made from popsicle sticks. The light fixture is just a little candle cup painted white.

I created the pedestal table with a plywood circle and wooden candle holder, both from Hobby Lobby, that I stained. The chairs case from Hobby Lobby, and I added some tea cups and a potted flower.

I created cutting boards from small square dowels that I cut, stained, and glued together. I used my scroll saw to create the handle shape.

Let's move this party upstairs to the bedroom.

Since this dollhouse is a gift for both girls, I added two beds with their initials over the beds. I added some pretty floral scrapbook paper as wallpaper, and I incorporated those colors throughout the house. I love adding personal touches like that. I created a nightstand out of a candle cup holder and wood circle. The light fixture is just a little bird cage I found at Michaels.

I added a fleur de lis since Sarah's family is from Louisiana.

I used fabric paint, ribbon, and tassels to jazz up the pillows. The blankets are just a placemat that I cut to size.

In the bathroom, I added a painting of birch trees above the bath tub because Sarah's maiden name in Birch, and her sweet father passed away right before Charlotte was born so I thought it would be nice for the girls to have a reminder of their grandfather. The bath tub was purchased from Hobby Lobby. The mirror is a round craft mirror with a paper doily backing.

I created a balustrade vanity to match the coffee table and added a sink made from clay. The faucet is just brass tubing.

I added a pink stool with gold-dipped legs and house shelves made from popsicle sticks. The glass vials on the shelves are filled with real pink bath salts.

I hope you enjoyed the tour of The Madeline Dollhouse. All of my other dollhouses have their own dedicated posts so be sure to read about them on the blog.
